Gisela Goppel was born in Regensburg, Germany. She studied textile design at the University of Arts in Berlin and illustration in Barcelona and Palma de Mallorca.
She lived in Bangkok as a DAAD scholar. It was there that created her illustrated master thesis “Thai Food Culture.” She later developed an illustrated cookbook out of this project called “Das Thai-Kochbuch” published in 2013 by Jacoby & Stuart.
Gisela has two children, and when she is not drawing she loves being outside with her family exploring nature or getting her hands dirty in the garden.
